We have a lot of friends and I can't
list them all here. These are
a few. Check back when you
can. I'm sure we'll add a few
along the way.
Fort Wayne
Patriots
As a Gulf War vet myself, I greatly
appreciate the efforts of those who
respect, honor, and support the
troops. Nobody wants war.
Nobody wants death. The troops
sign up to serve. When they
are deployed into combat, they do
their best to do their job, protect
their brothers and sisters in arms,
and get home alive. I am
grateful to organizations like Fort
Wayne Patriots who remind us that
the troops are people called into
harms way, and we need to do
everything we can to support them.
Flight Line
Radio
This is a great concept and the guys
who run the company, Don and Jamie, are a couple of great guys.
Notice how they managed to have the
same color scheme on the P-51 they
picked that we did. That
happened BEFORE we met. So, I
guess it was meant to be that we
should be friends. Anyhow, the
concept is pretty simple.
Flight Line Radio makes credit card
sized radio receiver with ear buds
and cotton lanyard that you hang around your neck.
With that portable, walk-around
radio that you don't have to carry
in your hand, you
are able to listen to all the event related
broadcasts without having to stand
next to the speakers. This is
a really cool idea. It gets even better when
you realize that you can listen to stuff that is not
on the regular broadcast, like radio
transmissions from the planes.
These guys aren't limiting
themselves to airshows, but you
should definitely look for them
there. It is a very cool way
to enjoy the event and feel like you
are experiencing it "from the
inside." Watch these guys.
This is a great concept and it is
going to pop.
Warbird Digest
This is absolutely the best warbird
magazine in the world. I love
to sit down with a cold Warbird and
read about warbirds. That is
cool! Check them out on-line
and subscribe today!
Ida Red
Airshows
Dave and Larry Tinker are proud
owners of the "Ida Red," a
beautifully restored TBM Avenger.
I had the privilege of spending
several years with them helping get
the Ida Red flying again. Keep
an eye out, because she may be
coming to an air show near you.
In the mean time, please visit the
web site of these guys, among my
very best friends in the world.
Wizard 6
I recently had the honor of meeting
Douglas Bey, MD, otherwise known as
"Wizard 6." Doug Bey was a no-foolin'
combat psychiatrist serving with the
First Infantry Division, The Big Red
One, in Vietnam. He has
written a great book appropriately
titled after his radio call-sign.
For those of you who want to read
about "the real deal," I encourage
you to purchase Doug's book.
Thank you, Dr. Bey, for your service
to our country.
