WINCHESTER: When you are
flying combat (or training, in my
case), the other guys in your flight
or on the ground need to know if you
are able to help them or not.
If you have shot all your ammunition
and dropped all your bombs and you
are totally out of ability to do
anything but give cover, you call on
the radio "Winchester." This
means you are out of ammo.
In the beer world, this has a direct
translation. If you are out of
beer, you call "Winchester," as in
"I'm Winchester." If you are
out at an establishment, that might
mean you want to order another or it
might mean you are done. On
the other hand, if you look in your
refrigerator and say to yourself,
"Oh man, I'm Winchester!", that
means you need to get to the store
to buy Warbird.
Lesson learned: Don't be the one to
"go Winchester" when you are hosting
the party. Bad form.
